(Washington, DC) -- The Smithsonian is welcoming a very large new guest. Boxes carrying the skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus rex started arriving this morning in Washington, DC. The fossil, discovered in 1988 in Montana, is being added to the Smithsonian's Museum of Natural History on the National Mall. It will take about five years for the museum to renovate its dinosaur hall. The nearly complete skeleton of the T. rex will be its centerpiece attraction. Previously, it only featured plaster reproductions.
