A Democratic lawmaker in Florida is trying to push through legislation that would in essence criminalize kids for playing with squirt guns and posting about it on social media.

The Washington Examiner reports Florida state Sen. Jason Pizzo has proposed a bill that would punish “A minor who posts or publishes a picture of a firearm, a BB gun, an air or gas-operated gun, or a device displayed to resemble a firearm to a social media page.”

That would apply to kids pictured with toy guns as part of a costume, Nerf guns, or even squirt guns.

Pizzo’s bill to criminalize minors includes a punishment of up to a year in prison or a fine of up to $1,000.
