A group of Liberty University students staged a protest last week, upset by comments made by Jerry Falwell Jr. and his wife during a recent CPAC event.

The Washington Examiner reports the college president and his wife are taking heat for saying their granddaughter will be raised "as a girl."

Mrs. Falwell also said “God makes the choice of what the babies are going to be and God decided she would be a girl."

In response, about 30 students at the Christian university took to campus carrying signs supporting transgender rights and waving gay pride flags.

Some of the signs said "LGBTQ Lives Matter" and "Hate is a choice, being transgender is not."

The protest organizer called the Falwell’s comments “transphobic.”
