WASHINGTON, D.C. - Monday, July 27, 2026 - (TOWNHALL MEDIA): Townhall has released exclusive undercover video featuring Nebraska legislative candidate Caitlin Knutson discussing what she describes as the plan for the Democratic U.S. Senate nominee to exit the race and repeatedly acknowledging that "Independent" Senate candidate Dan Osborn is "basically a Democrat." In the undercover footage, Knutson tells an unidentified individual the strategy was for Democratic nominee Cindy Burbank to step aside, leaving Osborn in a one-on-one race against incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts. The video also captures Knutson agreeing with repeated characterizations of Osborn as a Democrat. "He's basically a Democrat, right?" "Yeah, I mean, yeah," Knutson responds with a laugh. "When it comes to working class issues, for sure." AND “He’s not going to get up there and vote all MAGA, right?” the individual said. “No,” Knutson responded. “He’s basically a Democrat, right?” the individual continued. “Yeah, well, I mean, there’s some things he will, some things he won’t. The Democratic Party thought this would be our best bet for a statewide race,” Knutson says. WASHINGTON (AP) — The office of Senator Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., released an update on his health Monday, this time with a statement from the congressional Office of Attending Physician stating the senator has not yet been medically cleared to leave a rehabilitation facility where he is undergoing physical therapy. The update comes shortly before his home state's annual Fancy Farm picnic, which features speeches from politicians throughout the state seeking elected office. McConnell said in a written statement that he won't be able to attend the event. “There’s no place I’d rather be on the first Saturday in August than with the good people of western Kentucky, feasting on pork and mutton," McConnell said. He said that when he first attended the event 42 years ago, Fancy Farm was a lonely place for Republicans, but times have changed. “So I hate that I’ll miss the fun this year, but I’m sending my best wishes to the St. Jerome community for a successful picnic,” McConnell said. McConnell, 84, was admitted to the hospital on June 14 and revealed weeks later that it was due to a fall. He had polio in his early childhood and has long acknowledged some difficulty as an adult in walking and climbing stairs. The statement from the Office of the Attending Physician said McConnell has maintained a strenuous course of physical therapy and rehabilitation since he left the hospital, which includes multiple sessions a day designed to rebuild strength and reduce the risk of future falls. “His bout with childhood polio continues to be a significant factor in his mobility. He is not yet medically cleared to leave the rehab facility and return to the office,” said the statement from the physician’s office in Congress. McConnell said he appreciated the well wishes he has received in recent weeks, and "I’m looking forward to getting back to the Senate and to Kentucky soon.” McConnell is not seeking reelection but intends to finish out his term.

The Republican president tours a General Motors facility in Milford on Monday and is expected to defend his tariffs in a state where they've affected many businesses. Michigan's economy relies heavily on Canada, and new tariffs including on imported cars and auto parts create concerns. Trump's visit comes ahead of Michigan's Aug. 4 primary and as early voting is underway. Trump has endorsed Rep. John James in the Republican gubernatorial primary, while the Democratic Senate primary between Rep. Haley Stevens and progressive Abdul El-Sayed has drawn national attention.

Trump, on Air Force One on his way to Michigan, said he has "plenty of time" to deal with Iran. "There's a good chance that something could happen," Trump said about a potential deal with Iran. The president also said he will ask Russia about providing satellite imagery to assist Iran. "I'll ask Putin about it," Trump said. "We'll find out."

TORONTO, July 27 (Reuters) - At least one shot was fired outside the U.S. consulate in downtown Toronto early on Monday but there were no injuries, police said, in what was the second such incident in the last four months. Police officers, alerted by the sound of a gunshot, said they found evidence of a weapon having been fired outside the building on University Avenue. In a post on X, police said a white sedan was seen fleeing the scene, adding no injuries were reported, they said. A Reuters reporter on the scene said police had sealed off the immediate area. On March 10, several shots were fired at the same building. The incident followed three separate incidents in which gunshots were fired at synagogues in the Toronto area. In June police said, without providing any more details, that young people in the Toronto area were being paid to shoot at various targets, including synagogues, Jewish schools, and the U.S. Consulate.

That's according to two regional officials who spoke to The Associated Press. But scattered attacks by armed groups across the region underscored the lingering tensions. Neither the U.S. nor Iran have claimed any strikes for three days. Mediators led by Qatar and Pakistan are working to bridge the gap between Washington and Tehran. The U.S. has paused attacks after targeting Iranian areas in response to Iran firing at ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pushing back against New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani after the mayor said Netanyahu should be arrested if he visits New York. In an interview Sunday on Fox News, Netanyahu accused Mamdani of "fomenting hate" and dismissed International Criminal Court allegations related to the war in Gaza as "bogus." Mamdani said last week that while New York City does not have the legal authority to enforce the ICC warrant, he believes the federal government should act if Netanyahu visits. Netanyahu says he still plans to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September. President Donald Trump has said Netanyahu will not be arrested.
